# How easy it is to miss a chance to get a job

People's short-sightedness amazes me. Many of the girls who asked me about a job, when I told them

> "The vacancy is closed for now, we've taken a girl on for a trial period, but do send us your résumé anyway, just in case. The vacancy might open up again..."

said (and still say) to me: "No, I need a job now, not in two weeks."

I can't understand why people would deprive themselves of extra chances. Who knows, maybe she'll go on going to interviews for another two weeks, or take a job with worse conditions... Or is it optimism?
