Idea: a club café for business people, geeks, startuppers and other tech maniacs
A menu on a tablet
- a tablet on the table for every guest,
- with a menu app on it,
- you order with “Add to tray”,
- login, purchase history, discount, ratings for what you’ve already tried,
- booking a table and dishes in advance, by login,
- the tablets are networked, each with its own identifier: table, seat;
- you can watch a video about a dish if you like,
- google the ingredients,
- read reviews of the dishes on a dedicated network or on Twitter,
- integrated with social networks (Foursquare, Twitter: for example, tweet that you’ve dropped into the café),
- free fast internet on the tablet,
- you can send a document to print (the printouts come on a tray :)
- you can buy a tablet like it.
Pluses:
- frees up waiting staff;
- happy customers who don’t wait ages for someone to come over, bring the menu, take the order or bring the bill;
- happy geek customers: they get to play with a tablet.
Free space and treats for internet-related events:
- tweetups
- seminars
- sctest
- hub
- training for journalists
- gadget presentations
- get-togethers of PR people, marketers, programmers, etc.
- barcamp
Plus: during these, anyone who wants to can drop in and join the conversation (openness can be a condition for hosting).
Plus: the option to stream what’s happening online (with the right equipment: for example, the tablets have front cameras so a speaker can stream his face to a shared mega-screen, using a projector, and online, on the club’s website).
Quickly develop a franchise network of these cafés across Ukraine, since the idea is easy to copy.
Sales and earnings on the spot:
- business books
- gadgets
- premium services (haven’t figured out which yet)
- subscriptions to events held at the club
- premium seat booking for events (presentations of new gadgets, for example)
- free testing of new products
Name:
- Habl: sounds like Habr (Habrahabr, the Russian-language tech community), bad
- Hab (“Hub”): taken, but we could try to come to an agreement :)
- Kub (“Cube”): there may be shops with the same name (Podarki v kube, “Gifts in a cube”, for example)
- Kubl: klub with the l in the wrong place, but unique (though it does echo kublo, “a nest of vipers”)
